The Oshawa Power Battle Back and Defeat the Summerside Storm 131-122 in Overtime

Oshawa PowerThe Oshawa Power showed grit and determination with a much needed road victory in Summerside, defeating the Storm in overtime 131-122.

The Power were in tough for three quarters against the offensive-minded Storm and headed to the fourth down 83-75. A stellar 38 point fourth quarter forced overtime and the Power were able to close out the win by playing suffocating defense in the extra frame, only allowing 9 points.

NBL Canada first overall draft pick Morgan Lewis led the charge setting a new Power franchise record with 38 points; two points shy of tying the NBL Canada record of 40. Lewis also added a career-high 10 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds. Brandon Robinson added a cool 25 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The Power also got its first ever triple double from Marcus Johnson who had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

“Our key was to execute on the offensive end and defend and rebound on the defensive end,” said Johnson regarding the Power coming back and forcing overtime. 

The Power also set a new mark for team assists as they posted 41 assists on their 46 made field goals leading to 5 different players reaching double figures in scoring on the night.

The Storm got an outstanding performance from their guard Al Stewart, in his first game back from injury, who recorded a triple-double of 28 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists. Stephen McDowell netted 22 points in the loss.

The Power and Storm will do it again 8 days from now on January 20 at 6:30 p.m. E.S.T.

The next Power home game is on January 26, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. against the Saint John Mill Rats. Rogers Communications and the Oshawa Power recently announced an amazing partnership that will see Rogers buy out 6,000 seats of the General Motors Centre for this game which is called ROGERS SLAM DUNK DAY. Power fans will be able to redeem coupons for complimentary tickets to the game.
