Moncton Miracles suffer defeat by the Saint John Mill Rats

The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost to the Saint John Mill Rats with a final score of 93-105. The Miracles now sit with a 10-12 record.

These two New Brunswick teams matched up evenly for the first 8 minutes of the game until Saint John took off and ended the first quarter up 20-30 over Moncton. The Mill Rats would continue to push throughout the next 12 minutes and lead by as much as 18 points in the second quarter. The Miracles would continue to try and play catch up but would finish the half trailing 41-65.

Saint John would lead for the remainder of the game. Late in the fourth quarter the Miracles were able to bring the game within 5 points but the Mill Rats were not letting this game slip away from them like they had but a week ago.

The Miracles who normally shoot phenomenal from the behind the 3-point line struggled shooting 17.14% (6-35) while the Mill Rats shot 40.74%(11-27). Moncton managed to shoot better than Saint John from everywhere else on the court but were unable to come out on top in the end.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 29 points shooting 14 for 14 from the free-throw line. Darrell Wonge followed with 19 points, now only 11 points away from hitting the 1,000 career points mark.

Anthony Anderson was the top scorer for the Mill Rats with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Antonio Burks was continued the scoring with 15 points.

The Miracles bench was handed a technical foul as well as Oliver McNally.

The Miracles play their next home game on Friday, January 4th against the Halifax Rainmen. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
