Mayor Decides against Welcoming PEC Zwolle Supporters to Away Match against Jong PSV
After incidents following PEC Zwolle’s match against FC Eindhoven, supporters of the Zwolle team will not be welcome at the upcoming away match against Jong PSV on May 8th in Eindhoven. Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the mayor of the city, confirmed the decision due to the disturbances that occurred earlier this month.
Disturbances After Eindhoven vs PEC Zwolle Match
Following their loss to FC Eindhoven in the Kitchen Champion Division on April 7th, almost forty PEC fans caused a scene by confronting the police. The fans reportedly threw stones and street furniture at the police officers.
Later that night, some supporters invaded a local field of hockey association Oranje-Rood, where children aged between 14 and 15 were playing football. The young people were attacked by the fans, leaving one of them injured.
Ban on PEC Zwolle Fans
The municipality spokesman has said that a limited number of PEC Zwolle supporters may be allowed in the first game after the upcoming match should the match on May 8th proceed without incident.
Eindhoven mayor, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, previously announced that supporters of SC Cambuur and FC Groningen will not be allowed into the city for the time being. PEC Zwolle recently secured their promotion to the Eredivisie following a 1-1 draw against Almere City FC.
