Toronto MarliesMarlies Head Coach Joins Joe Colborne and Nazem Kadri as Being Named to AHL All-Star Roster

The Toronto Marlies, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that head coach Dallas Eakins will join the coaching staff of the Western Conference team for the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, NJ on January 29-30. Coach Eakins will join Oklahoma City’s head coach, Todd Nelson behind the bench for the two-day All-Star festivities.

Eakins, 44, is in his third season as head coach of the Toronto Marlies and has the club currently in first place in the North Division standings with a record of 20-13-3-2 for 45 points. Eakins, a first time AHL All-Star, previously served as an assistant head coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs and as Director of Player Development for the organization. Eakins played parts of 12 seasons in the AHL and won the Calder Cup as a member of the Chicago Wolves in 2002.

The 2012 AHL All-Star Classic will take place January 29-30 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Marlies continue their seven game road trip tonight against the St. John’s IceCaps at 6:00 p.m. ET at Mile One Centre.
