Toronto Maple LeafsThe Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that forward Joffrey Lupul will be out of the lineup for an estimated three to four weeks with a separated shoulder. Colby Armstrong is listed as day-to-day with a broken nose. Both players were injured during the second period of last night’s game at home against Boston.

The hockey club also announced that forward Carter Ashton has joined the Maple Leafs on an emergency basis from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). Ashton, 20, was a first-round draft choice (29th overall) of Tampa Bay in the 2009 Entry Draft and he was obtained on February 27 from the Lightning in exchange for Keith Aulie.

Ashton has one goal and one assist in three AHL games since the trade. Before his Marlies’ debut last week, he had 19 goals and 16 assists in 56 games this season with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL). He has not appeared in an NHL regular season game in his career. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is the son of former NHL player, Brent, who played in 998 career NHL games over 14 seasons.
