Toronto MarliesThe St. John’s IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, defeated the Toronto Marlies by a score of 4-2 this afternoon at the Mile One Centre in Newfoundland.

Paul Ranger’s 6th goal of the season opened the scoring on a Toronto powerplay at 2:35 of the first period. The IceCaps would equalize before end of the frame on a powerplay goal from Eric O’Dell. St. John’s grabbed a 2-1 lead midway through the second period on Jason Jaffray’s 6th goal of the year. With less than three minutes remaining in the middle frame, Ryan Hamilton capitalized on a penalty shot opportunity to tie the game at two. Kevin Clark scored the eventual game winning goal at 10:26 of the third period. Clark would also add an empty net tally to secure the victory for the IceCaps.

The Marlies return to the ice on Friday night when they take on the Binghamton Senators, AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m at the Broome County Veterans

Memorial Arena. Toronto returns home on January 26 when they host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, at 5 p.m.
