The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 5-1 tonight at the Blue Cross Arena.
Mark Mancari opened the scoring for the Amerks at 5:54 of the first period. Rochester would make it 2-0 before the end of the frame on Kevin Porter’s 13th goal of the season. Evan Rankin pushed the lead to three at 13:57 of the second period. Mancari would add two third period goals to secure the victory for Rochester. Jerry D’Amigo notched Toronto’s only goal at 15:24 of the final frame.
The Marlies return to the ice tomorrow at Ricoh Coliseum when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team’s ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
