The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that forward Carter Ashton has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Centreman Peter Holland has been reassigned to the Marlies. Holland has 10 points (6g, 4a) in 26 NHL games this season. Ashton has appeared in 18 games in three previous stints with the Leafs in 2013-14.
The Maple Leafs will play at Carolina (7 p.m.) on Thursday followed by a game at Washington (7 p.m.) the following night. The Marlies start a seven-game road trip beginning January 10 at St. John’s, Newfoundland.
