Ross named to Hockey Canada’s WJC selection camp roster / McKegg named OHL Player of the week

Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Monday that forward Luca Caputi has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Caputi has appeared in seven games with the Maple Leafs this season, collecting four penalty minutes and eight shots on goal. He has also registered a goal and two assists with nine penalty minutes in seven games with the Marlies.

Maple Leafs prospect Brad Ross was named to Hockey Canada’s selection camp roster on Monday for the 2011 World Junior Championships. In 26 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, Ross has accumulated 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) with 69 penalty minutes and a plus 12 rating. Ross was Toronto’s first choice, 43rd overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft.

The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Erie Otters forward Greg McKegg has been named OHL Player of the Week for the second time this season. McKegg had nine points (6 goals, 3 assists) in three games with a plus five rating for the week ending November 28. Drafted by Toronto in the third round, 62nd overall in 2010, McKegg is currently tied for fifth in OHL scoring with 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points in 28 games.
