Croatia is set to meet defending champions Spain for the first time in a competitive fixture on Monday, in the final Group C fixture in Gdansk. Both nations are interestingly locked on four points having earned a draw and secured a victory in their opening two matches, with rivals Italy on two points and scheduled to play against the already eliminated Republic of Ireland in Poznan. All the three teams are hoping to progress into the knock-out stage with achieving all the possible outcomes.

Croatia remains unsuccessful in three previous friendlies against Spain, their only win coming courtesy of a 2-0 success in 1994. Coach Slaven Bilic knows the Croats, who beat Ireland before holding Italy to a draw, will have to try their best against the holders.

Croatia has the FIFA ranking of 8. Bilic has said: "We will need to play the best game of our lives, whose side hope to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the second straight time. We must be concentrated for 90 minutes. We have to work as a team and we are going to have to take our chances." The probable line up for Croatia include: Pletikosa; Srna, Corluka, Schildenfeld, Strinic; Vukojevic, Rakitic; Modric, Perisic, Mandzukic; Jelavic.

Spain is at the top of FIFA rankings of 1. Tonight, Spain will be at full strength with midfielder Sergio Busquets having recovered from a minor foot injury. Fernando Torres is set to lead Spain's attack for the second consecutive game with the Chelsea striker having scored twice against Ireland. Probable Spanish squad include: Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba; Xabi Alonso, Busquets, Xavi; Iniesta, Torres, Silva.

Even a draw in this game but at least with 2-2 seems to be good enough for both the teams to proceed into the Quarterfinals even if Italy wins against Ireland. But it looks like world and European champions Spain would not compromise on a draw after having gained a remarkable victory 4-0 over the Irish side.
