The open championship 2012 has kick started and today is the third round at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
During the second round, Adam Scott has surprisingly exploited the unusually calm conditions at Royal Lytham and St Annes, as he made eight birdies in a six under 64. Scott's meticulous iron-play made light of a closing stretch that, when the wind is up, can provide one of the British Open's most brutal tests. Only a rare hooked drive into the rough on the last, where he made a bogey, marred an otherwise peerless performance. However, it has been devised as Scott's best start to a major tournament, and a performance made better by the likelihood the wind will rise over the final rounds, and scoring will become far more difficult. Of the early starters, Scott was a shot clear of 1999 British Open champion Paul Lawrie and American Zach Johnson who both shot 65.
Brandt Snedeker began the day two shots behind first round leader Adam Scott. He followed up his first round 66 with an even better second round of 6-under par 64. After two rounds of the Open Championship Snedeker has yet to make a bogey. That is quite impressive. Scott, who was coming off an opening round of 64, played well for the second day and recorded a 3-under par 67. He will begin the third round at Royal Lytham and St. Annes one behind Snedeker.
Tiger Woods also had taken a strong start in his attempt to win a first major championship in more than four years. Woods, the three-time Open champion, has also played well for the second straight day. Woods' went out in four under 30, but a dropped shot after a wild drive on the 15th left him at three under, alongside Masters champion Bubba Watson and Ernie Els.
