The 2012 U.S. Open proved to be historic on Wednesday, as the singles career of three-time U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters came to an end after her second-round defeat.
Aside from Clijsters going down in consecutive-set tiebreakers, the rest of the heavyweights on the men’s and women’s side, including Maria Sharapova, moved through.

Day 4 of U.S. Open 2012 play will feature the Williams sisters, Agnieszka Radwanska, Roger Federer and a handful of other notable players.
Serena Williams will face Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, and Venus will face Angelique Kerber in today’s worth watching matches. Federer will have a match against Bjorn Phau, and Radwanska will face Carla Suarez Navarro.
