On Sunday September 16th, 2012 stage 8 will be started in Tour of Britain, as Pablo Urtasun (Eukaltel Euskadi) won stage 7 of the Tour of Britain, which ran from Barnstable (on the north coast of Devon) to Dartmouth (on the south coast of Devon). Second place, in a four-up sprint, went to Marc De Maar (UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling) with Ivan Basso (Liquigas Cannondale) taking third. The overall lead stayed with Jonathan Tiernan-Locke (Endura Racing), while the challenging stage saw Leigh Howard (Orica-GreenEdge) consigned from second to fourth overall and Nathan Haas (Garmin Sharp) jumping one place to take the runner up spot. Damiano Caruso (Liquigas Cannondale) now cleaves to third place overall.
Subsequent to three stages for the tough men, the racers should try for revenge in the eighth and concluding stage of this year’s Tour of Britain. The 147km from Reigate to Guildford on mostly flat road should confer Mark Cavendish an opportunity to close the Tour of Britain in a unique approach. After the show London plant on for the Olympics, look ahead to a big crowd to observe that bunch gallop into Guildford.
