ICC T20 World Cup 2012 is just a day away but viewers can still get some live cricketing action, as there is an excited warm up match today involving the arch-rivals Pakistan and India.
Indian team’s tails up after an easy outing against hosts Sri Lanka, India would be counting on to keep the winning pace when they take on Pakistan in their second warm-up game on Monday. Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni would, however, want their batsman to perform well against a superior Pakistani bowling unit to maintain a clean slate ahead of their World Twenty20 opening match against Afghanistan on September 19.
Though, India won comfortably against the hosts in their opening warm-up game, they certainly need to put up a better show with the bat against Pakistan, which own quality bowlers like Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul in their ranks. The probable Indian squad to play include: Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c & wk), Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin.
After the warm up match,the Pakistani team will play against New Zealand and Bangladesh in Group ‘D; matches. Pakistan have been a bit inconsistent in the run-up in their sporting extravaganza. They won two successive T20 matches against Australia, but their 94-run loss to the Kangaroos in the final T20 tie showed that their batting proves to be weak against quality bowling.
Pakistan’s batting line-up exhibits immaturity at this level, but with the likes of Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi and skipper Mohammad Hafeez in the ranks they really own the necessary fire power to upset any side. Pakistani probable squad include: Mohammad Hafeez (c), Imran Nazir, Nasir Jamshed, Kamran Akmal (wk), Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul, Raza Hasan, Saeed Ajmal.
Both the warm up matches of Pakistan in ICC World T20 are feared to be affected by rain. The second warm up match of Pakistan is against England team which is scheduled to be played on Wednesday.
