Sri Lanka and West Indies will look to book their Semi -finals berth with another win when the in-form sides meet at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
West Indies smashed out the defending champions England by 15 runs in an exciting finish, while Sri Lanka won in very close game after a `Super Over` was required to settle the clash with New Zealand in their last match.
Both Sri Lanka and West Indies are best known to provide an exciting play at big-ticket ICC events and now they are to play against each other in a head-to-head match. Both the sides know the conditions well and are equal to surprise at any time but the Islanders could bank heavily on the home advantage. West Indies advanced to super eights without a victory but a morale-boosting victory against England has given their Super Eights campaign a positive start. Jonathan Charles and Chris Gayle sparkled for the Windies but their power packed middle-order consisting of Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy and Kieron Pollard -is not performing up to the mark. Only Charles’ brilliant effort helped to meet the target and Sammy’s men will hope it was just a one-off incident.
The bowling department was also not consistent as the mystery spin of Sunil Narine was not that effective while Ravi Rampaul too faltered after starting well. But the bowling of Gayle and Samuel Badree, enabled them to restrict the defending champion’s progress. The likely West Indian line up will include: Darren Sammy(c), Denesh Ramdin(wk), Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine, Samuel Badree, Dwayne Smith, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Fidel Edwards.
