The 2012 Frys Open Championship day 3 will continue on Saturday 13 October 2012, at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California, United States. At the finish of round two John Mallinger took the overall lead, sustain a first-round 66 with an even lower second round. It was part of his notable performance on Friday that turns him to the lead.
Mallinger completed the 2nd round at 14-under, with a four stroke go ahead over Billy Horschel and Jhonattan Vegas, who tied at 10-under.
Nick O’Hern was not able to repeat his first round performance from Thursday. He shot 71 times, missing his chance to pull out his three-stroke lead.
Unfortunately backsliders on Friday included 1999 Ryder Cup hero Justin Leonard, and Canada’s David Hearn, who each position identical rounds of 70 & 73 to slide 48 spots downward the leaderboard and, unfortunately, drop below the score stroke.
On Day 3 a total of 72 golfers are line up to top off on Saturday. O’Hern wasn’t able to take forward his fast start on Day 1. Mallinger will try to keep his sizzling play going on Saturday.
