Gautam Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Perth Scorchers in their must win Champions League T20 Group A match, h at Kingsmead in Durban, on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Both the teams are looking to open their winning account as they have gone winless in their CLT20 campaign so far.
KKR team consists of a good batting line-up which have failed to score yet. Players like Gautam Gambhir, Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwari are brilliant at leading the batting squad while Manvinder Bisla and Brendon McCullum are also fair scorers. Still, the IPL champions have comprehensively lost their first two games against Delhi Daredevils and qualifiers Auckland Aces. Now they have to perform well to grab a victry this time. In the bowling department, Brett Lee is expected to make a comeback in the playing XI while Jacques Kallis, Sunil Narine and Brendon McCullum are certain to retain their places. The probable KKR squad will include: Manvinder Bisla (wk), Gautam Gambhir (c), Brendon McCullum, Jacques Kallis, Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwary, Rajat Bhatia, Shakib Al Hasan, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Sunil Narine, Pradeep Sangwan.
On the other hand, Scorchers have a batting line-up that is rich in experience and play aggressively. The openers Herschelle Gibbs and Shaun Marsh are able to handle the bowlers well in South African conditions especially Gibbs. They have the advantage of their top order players have played a lot of cricket at the WACA ground in Perth which has conditions similar to that of Kingsmead and therefore it makes them favorites over the KKR. The Scorchers’ likely line-up will include: Herschelle Gibbs, Marcus North (c), Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Simon Katich, Nathan Rimmington, Joe Mennie, Brad Hogg, Michael Beer, Ben Edmondson.
