Mumbai Indians’ title defense ended earlier with a cry and now they would look to retrieve some of their battered reputation with at least a win when they take on Sydney Sixers in the final group match.
This match may not count for anything for Mumbai Indians from Mumbai’s point of view but Sydney will be looking to grab another victory to come on the top of the table. This is one of the highlight matches of the group stage with both teams having a lot of class players. Mitchell Starc has been brilliant in the last 6 months, he has taken plenty of wickets and is defiantly in contention for a test place. But the absence of Shane Watson will be a blow for Sixers. Still with the presence of Brad Haddin, Steven Smith, Micheal Lumb in their ranks, the side possesses a strong batting line-up to keep their winning pace. The probable Sixes’ squad will include: Shane Watson, Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Michael Lumb, Nathan McCullum, Ian Moran, Peter Nevill, Stephen O’Keefe, Brad Haddin (c), Patrick Cummins, Josh Hazlewood.
Mumbai were disappointing at the start of the tournament but Harbhajan Singh’s side rediscovered some form in a narrow defeat against Chennai on Saturday. Sachin Tendulkar has struggled over the last 12 months and he doesn’t know when he will retire but he needs a big score to prove critics wrong. Now they have to play out of their skins to win this match. The likely Mumbai line up will include: Sachin Tendulkar, Richard Levi, Dwayne Smith, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Harbhajan Singh (c), Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Munaf Patel.
