In the field hockey, on Saturday December 8th 2012, Pakistan is taking on Netherland in a Champion Trophy Hockey tournament first Semi-final at State Netball Hockey Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
Pakistan has played their first match of Champion Trophy against Netherland, where Dutch won the match with the margin of two goals. After that Pakistan has a good win against Belgium by 2-0 while lost to Aussies by only 0-1. Since 2004 that Pakistan finds itself in the hunt for a medal at the Champions Trophy, now this time they able to overcome Germans and positioned themselves in the semis. However, this is the second consecutive time that Germany has missed the semi-finals at the annual event. Shakeel Abbasi was the man who sail-through Pakistan in the semi-final. He managed to done both Pakistan goals in the surprising win.
On the other hand, Netherland were unbeaten in the Champions Trophy matches, while after wining from Pakistan, they had a draw against Aussies, then 5-4 goals win over Belgium. However, in quarter-final they overcome New Zealand and sailed through victory by 2-0.
Netherland has a good record against Pakistan in this tournament so it will be a very important match for both of them as winner will have a strong chance to move into the Final for the Champion Trophy quest.
