On the 2^nd last day, England made 161 for 3 in its 2^nd innings at stumps with a lead of 165 runs.

Both the teams played defensively throughout the day. Previously, India declared their first innings at 326 for 9 with only short of four runs from England’s 1^st innings of 330. India resumed their 1^st innings batting at a slow rate, despite Ashwin and Ojha getting the message from the dressing room.

India started at the overnight score of 297 for 8 and only become enabled to add only 29 runs declaration signal. Monty Panesar took the wicket of Pragyan Ojha (3) by getting hi bowled. English team’s James Anderson achieved impressive figures of 4 for 81 while Graeme Swann finished with 3 for 76.

India started off its 2^nd innings bowling in a positive way as Pragyan Ojha trapped Nick Compton lbw for 34. Before that, R Ashwin captured the opener Alastair Cook for 13. Afterwards, Ravindra Jadeja made Kevin Pietersen out for 6 to bright up India’s chances to win.

India tried to rundown the tourists after picking three wickets but Jonathan Trott (66*) and Ian Bell’s (24*) together made that plan a longing for the hosts. Indian bowlers failed to restrict the English team afterwards.
