India will take on Pakistan in a dead rubber 3rd ODI match to restore their honor at the Feroz Shah Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
India have already lost the series and their morale will be understandably low before entering the final ODI match. While Indian bowlers always deemed responsible for the team’s defeats, this time the batting was total failure for surrendering India’s first home ODI series since 2009. MS Dhoni’s dilemma of whether to go with an extra bowler will remain and even strengthen with the new rules if the top six batsmen and the fifth part-time bowler don’t perform well. The hosts lost the first game in Chennai by six wickets and the second in Kolkata by 85 runs to lead their arch rivals to their first series win on Indian soil since 2004-05. The probable Indian squad will include: MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Ashoke Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Shami Ahmed, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja.
Pakistan have done most things right this series. Their bowlers have struck with the new ball, contained runs in the middle overs and the batsmen have worked as a team to provide back up to the bowlers. Pakistan proved their superiority by all means and justifiably won the series. The visitors are pleased by the heartening performance of their youngsters. Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan – all have impressed on their first trip to India. The likely Pakistan lineup will include: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Anwar Ali, Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail, Imran Farhat, Junaid Khan, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz, Younis Khan, Zulfiqar Babar.
