West Indies will take on Zimbabwe in the first Test match of the series at Bridgetown on Tuesday.

West Indies have a point to prove as they remain unable to win five matches in a row during the last 20 years. Now they have the best opportunity over a long time to prove themselves by grabbing a victory this week – coupled to a quartet of triumphs over Bangladesh and New Zealand last year. They have a stable batting squad with the likes of recalled Marlon Samuels and prolific Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Also, the addition of Narsingh Deonarine, would strengthen the order – though an additional bowler is the probable pick. The likely Caribbean squad will include: Chris Gayle, Kieran Powell, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Denesh Ramdin (wicketkeeper), Darren Sammy (captain), Shane Shillingford, Tino Best, Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe have to face the challenge in the absence Flower and Streak, whose presence was greatly missed during the limited-overs series. However, they players would need an additional coaching staff for future series to keep their standard up. Zimbabwe would be playing their fifth match since the end of their six-year gap from Test cricket in 2011. Whatever the situation is for the tourists, they are ready to take on the Caribbean side with great courage. The probable Zimbabwean lineup will include: Tino Mawoyo, Vusi Sibanda, Brendan Taylor (captain, wicketkeeper), Hamilton Masakadza, Sean Williams, Timycem Maruma, Regis Chakabva, Keegan Meth, Graeme Cremer, Chris Mpofu, Kyle Jarvis.
