After a morale boosting 2-1 series win over England, New Zealand would hope to enter the Champions Trophy 2013 with their good when they will face Sri Lanka in a Group A match at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Sunday.

New Zealand, the 2000 Champions Trophy winners, will open the contest at the back of a series win against England. They have a 10-3 win loss record in England since 2000 and have 13-12 lead over Sri Lanka on neutral ground. They have 5-4 win-loss record out of the nine ODIs played in year 2013, including two wins at the same venue.  Opener Martin Guptill is in good form after smashing two consecutive hundreds against England and Ross Taylor hit half-centuries in all the three matches of the recent ODI series. The likely Kiwi squad will include: Luke Ronchi (wk), Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Colin Munro, Brendon McCullum (c), James Franklin, Nathan McCullum, Tim Southee, Kyle Mills, Mitchell McClenaghan.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka has played eight ODIs in 2013, winning three, losing three and two with no-results. The won the 2002 Champions Trophy tournament and had shown that they can win outside the country. They shared 2-2 with one no-result in an away series against Australia earlier this year before sharing another away series against Bangladesh in March. However, they had to suffer defeats to India and West Indies in the warm-up games. Sri Lanka own a nice spin attack that would be key to their performance even as Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara can do the job in helpful conditions. The probable Sri Lankan lineup will include: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kushal Janith Perera, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews(c), Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Sachithra Senanayake, Lasith Malinga.
