The winning team of Group A and also the tournament hosts, England will take on Group B runner-up South Africa in the 1st semi-final of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2013 at Kennington Oval, London on Wednesday.
Both the sides will play to get a spot in the final of the final Champions Trophy tournament. South Africa would be eager enough to scrap the ‘choker’ tag they have obtained over the last few years. South Africa are sweating on the fitness of fast bowler Dale Steyn and if he plays he is expected to have a huge influence on the outcome of this match. The probable South African lineup will include: 1 Colin Ingram, 2 Hashim Amla, 3 Faf du Plessis, 4 AB de Villiers (capt, wk), 5 JP Duminy, 6 David Miller, 7 Ryan McLaren 8 Robin Peterson 9 Chris Morris, 10 Dale Steyn/Aaron Phangiso, 11 Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
England have home advantage and would be looking to get a berth in the final match. Steyn’s rival, James Anderson performed brilliantly during the whole tournament and has made things a lot easier for the hosts. Anderson would be hoping to repeat his good form in this clash as well to aid his team through into the finals. The likely English squad will include: 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Ian Bell, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Joe Root, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Jos Buttler (wk), 7 Ravi Bopara, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Anderson.
