A dominant ODI side, India would look to retain its top spot in the rankings when they face a relatively inexperienced Australian team in a seven-match series, starting in Pune on Sunday.

India had proved its dominance over Australia after grabbing a victory in the Twenty20 series but now a shift has been made onto a lengthy format of ODI. The only game of the Twenty20 series brought the crowd plenty of entertainment with huge hitting from Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh. Shikhar Dhawan has had a dream run ever since he made his Test debut for India and is going to be a key player for India over this tour. The probable Indian squad will include: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat.

On the other hand, Australia had beaten England in ODIs post their devastation in Ashes but India are a tough team especially at their home ground. The visitors got a fair idea about the task ahead after failing to defend a mammoth 200-plus total in Rajkotin T20 game. Clint Mckay is often Australia’s go to man with the ball in the shorter formats but he was very much off his game in the T20 and needs to get back in form quickly for his team’s sake. The likely Australian lineup will include: Shane Watson, Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey (vice-capt), Adam Voges, Brad Haddin (wk), Moises Henriques, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson, James Faulkner, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty.
