West Indies will play the opening test of their tour of New Zealand against the hosts at Dunedin on Monday.
Batting remains a matter of concern for both sides going into the three-match Test series, with neither performing well in their previous matches. The West Indies looked uninterested against India in the two-match series recently. While the bowlers did not fare exceedingly well, barring Shane Shillingford, the batsmen were extremely poor on pitched which hardly had too many demons in them. Darren Sammy’s team will now play on a completely different set of pitches, and in order to remain successful, they immensely need to adapt quickly here. The likely West Indian lineup will include: Powell, Edwards, Bravo, Samuels, Chanderpaul, Deonarine, Ramdin, Sammy, Shillingford, Best, Gabriel.
On the other hand, Kiwis have not fared too well either with the bat, with McCullum had also confessed of need working on his performance. The hosts also require gaining some confidence ahead of a sterner test with India next year. The probable Kiwi squad will include: Rutherford, Fulton, Redmond, Taylor, B. McCullum (capt), Anderson, Watling (wk), Sodhi, Southee, Wagner, Boult.
