At the end of opening Day at Sharjah test, Sri lanka scored 220 runs for the loss of five wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat first. 

Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene scored 52 and 47 respectively to put respectable total on the board for the visitors.

Angelo Mathews and Prasanna Jayawardene managed to be on the crease at stumps on Thursday.
