On Day 2 of the opening test match, India managed to recover from early upsets and responded with 130 for 4 against New Zealand’s 503 when day’s play get called off by umpires due to bad light at Eden Park on Friday.

Rohit Sharma (67*) and Ajinkya Rahane (23*) added a healthy 79-run stand between them for the fifth wicket and will continue in Saturday morning session.

Earlier during Kiwi’s 1st batting innings, Brendon McCullum’s superb 224 led New Zealand to a commanding 503 despite a six-wicket haul by pacer Ishant Sharma. India are still 373 runs behind the hosts’ first innings total and need additional 174 runs to avoid follow-on.

To India’s misery, their top-order collapsed once again as they lost Shikhar Dhawan (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (1) and Virat Kohli (4) in quick succession to some inspired seam bowling by Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Murali Vijay (26) did a nice hard work before Neil Wagner dismissed him with a beauty to reduce India to 51 for 4.
