Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians will face each other in the 40th match of IPL 2014 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Wednesday.
Kolkata are relatively better placed than their opponents with four victories from nine outings. However, they still need to get in form and win at least four more games to get a chance into getting at top half of the table. The good news is that the openers Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa are in great form and recently set up a reliable foundation in last two games and collectively contributed 225 runs. They are now required to carry on their form to win more games for their team. The likely KKR line-up will include: RV Uthappa†, G Gambhir*, MK Pandey, RN ten Doeschate, YK Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan, SA Yadav, PP Chawla, M Morkel, UT Yadav, SP Narine.
On the other hands, Mumbai have won only three games from nine outings so far. However, they would be glad to see their opener in Lendl Simmons in form. The Trinidadian scored 68 and powered team’s run-chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Apart from Simmons, they will also bank on Ambati Rayudu (who has scored half-centuries in his last two innings), skipper Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard for the runs. The probable MI squad will include: LMP Simmons, CM Gautam†, AT Rayudu, RG Sharma*, KA Pollard, CJ Anderson, AP Tare, Harbhajan Singh, SL Malinga, JJ Bumrah, PP Ojha.
