Sri Lanka and England will face each other in the opening ODI match of the 5 match series at Oval on Thursday.

As the next World Cup is only half an year away, every team is looking to prepare well for the main event that comes only once in every four years. Sri Lanka have won the only Twenty20 match of the tour largely due to the shocking performance by Thisara Perera who was out of favour for a few tours. Lasith Malinga did not prove to be as effective with the Mumbai Indians as he was expected but he collected three wickets in the T20 match and will be looking to capitalize on seam-friendly conditions. They are in an impressive shape and have remained magnificent recently in one-day cricket with World T20 success following a flawless campaign in the Asia Cup. The likely Sri Lankan line-up will include: 1 Kusal Perera, 2 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Mahela Jayawardene, 5 Lahiru Thirimanne, 6 Angelo Mathews (capt), 7 Thisara Perera, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 10 Sachithra Senanayake, 9 Ajantha Mendis, 11 Lasith Malinga.

On the other hands, Alistair Cook returns for his first international match since the horror tour of Australia but he remains under pressure as captain and really required to be in form during this campaign. After being hammered in Australia over the winter, they team had plenty eight months’ time for rebuilding a rather Challenging side to face. The probable English squad will include: 1 Alastair Cook, 2 Ian Bell, 3 Michael Carberry, 4 Joe Root, 5 Eoin Morgan (capt), 6 Ravi Bopara 7 Jos Buttler (wk), 8 Chris Woakes, 9 Chris Jordan, 10 James Tredwell, 11 James Anderson.
