On Day 3 of the only test clash, South Africa scored 397 in their first innings and led Zimbabwe by 113 at stumps at Harare Sports Club on Monday.
South Africa’s 141-run first-innings lead was built after Faf du Plessis made 98 and Quinton de Kock reached 81, who combined collected 119 runs for the fifth wicket partnership to put South Africa in firm domination. Even after South Africa had a slow run-scoring at 2.5 runs per over as the visitors ground their way in front on a lifeless pitch where batsmen worked hard for their runs.
Zimbabwean debutant off-spinner John Nyumbu collected 5 for 157, making use of a surface that favoured the slow bowlers to claim the important wickets of Du Plessis and JP Duminy, who made 55, among his haul.
