Mohammad Al_JaberiAFC Acting President Zhang Jilong has conveyed his condolences on the tragic and untimely demise of Oman U-19 national team goalkeeper Mohammad Al Jaberi.

Al Jaberi, 17, died on Tuesday while training with the team in Muscat. He complained of a headache and before the team doctor could take him to a hospital the goalkeeper passed away.

“I am shocked to hear about the death of young Omani player Al Jaberi,” Jilong said. “I am really saddened because he was in the prime of his youth and so much lay ahead for him (in football).”

Jilong added: “On behalf of AFC and the Asian football family, I extend my condolences to Al Jaberi’s family, friends and well wishers.”

Al Jaberi, who represented Oman in the AFC U-16 Championship 2010 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, was the brother of Oman Olympic team player Ali Al Jaberi.
