FC EdmontonFC Edmonton Will Either Face FC Tampa Bay or the Fort Lauderdale Strikers

FC Edmonton will have to wait until the weekend before it knows who its opponent will be in the 2011 NASL Quarter-Finals.

FC Tampa Bay travelled to Bayamon, Puerto Rico yesterday to take on the Islanders. A win would have secured third place for Tampa Bay and would have confirmed the Fort Lauderdale Strikers as FC Edmonton’s first round opponents but the Islanders home field domination continued as they beat the Florida side 1-0.

FC Edmonton does know it will be playing in Florida on Saturday, Oct. 1 but it will have to wait until this Saturday, when FC Tampa Bay take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (Kick Off @ 5 p.m. MST/www.nasl.com), to determine who will finish the season in third and fourth spots in the standings. FC Edmonton finished the season in fifth and will play the fourth place team on the road in the first round, while the third place team plays the sixth place team.

The first place Carolina RailHawks and the second place Puerto Rico Islanders have byes in the first round.
