Last Match of the Year for U.S. Women Kicks off from University of Phoenix Stadium
The U.S. Women’s National Team match against Sweden on Nov. 19 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., will be streamed live exclusively on ussoccer.com. Fans can follow the live stream by logging on to ussoccer.com shortly before kickoff, which is at 7 p.m. MT.
More than 14,000 tickets have been sold for the match, setting a record for the largest crowd to ever watch the U.S. WNT in Arizona.
The U.S. is preparing for the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will qualify two teams to the 2012 London Games. The qualifiers will take place from Jan. 19-29 in Vancouver, Canada, and the USA has been placed in Group B with Mexico, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
Sweden, ranked fifth in the world, comes into the Nov. 19 match having defeated the USA in the teams’ two previous meetings, both by 2-1 scores. The first match was in January of this year at the Four Nations Tournament in China, and the second came in group play at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Sweden went on to finish third in the tournament. Sweden will bring 14 players from their Women’s World Cup roster to Arizona.
The commentators for the broadcast will be Kenn Tomasch (play-by-play) and Kyndra de St. Aubin (color).
