FC EdmontonPlayer movement picks up less than two-weeks from FC Edmonton’s training camp in Arizona (March 5-17). The team has signed French defender Jonathan Joseph-Augustin after completing a two-week trial with the team.

The 30 year-old, right-footed, Augustin has been playing soccer at the professional level for over 10 years and brings international experience to the back-line. He has not only played for clubs in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, but he has also played with the France U-20 team.

Augustin most recently comes from the club Saint Nazaire in France where he has been training with the team since July.

FC Edmonton has also released 22-year-old American striker Shawn Chin. Chin has been with the club since 2011 and scored two goals in the 20 games played with the team during the 2011 NASL regular season.

FC Edmonton has also decided not to offer a contract to 24-year-old Albertan defender Justin Farenik. Farenik played with the reserve team in 2011 and was training with the team on a try-out contract.

“The club made two very difficult decisions today to release Shawn Chin and Justin Farenik,” said head coach Harry Sinkgraven. “Both players have been nothing but professional in their time with us and certainly we are all sad to see them go.”
