Tennis Canada officially released on Wednesday the schedule of play for Rogers Legends Cup, coming to Toronto as part of the 2011 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank. Featuring four former men’s Grand Slam champions in Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Jim Courier and Michael Chang, the mini-tournament will be played alongside the women of the WTA over final weekend, August 12-14 at Rexall Centre.

“We’ve got a great field,” said Courier, during an interview today with Sportsnet Radio The FAN 590. “I’m playing alongside Michael Chang, John McEnroe and the great Andre Agassi, as well as playing alongside all the best women in the world. It’s going to be a lot of fun for us to be involved.”

The Rogers Legends Cup schedule of play is as follows:

Friday, August 12 (evening session) WTA quarter-final followed by Courier v.Chang $40
Saturday, August 13 (matinee session) McEnroe v. Chang followed by WTA semifinal $40
Saturday, August 13 (evening session) WTA semifinal followed by Agassi v.Courier $40
Sunday, August 14 Agassi v. McEnroe followed by WTA final $50

Courier, four-time Slam champion, kicks off the weekend on Friday evening with a match against Chang, the man who claimed the French Open at age 17. Prior to the men’s event, ticketholders will have a chance to watch a quarter-final women’s match at Rogers Cup, featuring top-ranked WTA players.

“This is a unique value-add for our passionate tennis enthusiasts who come out to see great matches during Rogers Cup,” stated Michael Downey, President and CEO of Tennis Canada.

“For the same price, fans have a chance to enjoy two top caliber matches with WTA champions the likes of Maria Sharapova, Li Na and the Williams sisters, as well as legendary ATP greats.

On Saturday, August 13, all four Grand Slam legends will take to the courts.

In the afternoon, 77-time ATP World Tour titlist McEnroe brings his boisterous skills back to Toronto as he competes against Chang. In the evening, Agassi, winner of eight Slams and an Olympic gold medal, will go up against Courier. The legends event wraps up on Sunday with a showcase featuring Agassi and McEnroe before the WTA final.

Courier added, “Competing up there [in Toronto], I think it’ll make for a fan-friendly tournament on the weekend when we add a few names you may know with the ladies that you know. It should be good.”
