Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls, ON) lost his second round match on Saturday at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida on Friday, a combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA Premier event.
The 27-year-old Canadian, who won the Dallas Challenger last week and played his way through qualifying to earn a spot in the main draw, had his ten match win streak snapped by world no. 8 Mardy Fish. The American posted a 6-3, 7-6(1) victory to advance to the third round. Dancevic lost his serve once in the opening set to give Fish the early lead. Dancevic jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second frame, but was unable to keep his break advantage and found himself in a tiebreak which dominated, winning 7 of the 8 points played.
Meanwhile, Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) and Max Mirnyi of Belarus, seeded second in the doubles draw, won their opening match 6-3, 7-6(4) over Eric Butorac and Bruno Soares.
In third round action on Sunday in Key Biscayne, Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) will take world no. 4 Andy Murray of Great Britain. It will be the first meeting between the two players. The match is scheduled for third after 11 a.m. on Grandstand Court.
