The Treasure: This workshop surveys impressive feminine figures, exploring themes of creativity, nurturance, intuition, power, and wrath.
The Map: We turn to myths of the formidable feminine from ancient Egypt, Babylon, Persia, India, and Greece. Our odyssey includes: Isis and her relationship to the Nile river; Ishtar and her journey into the Babylonia underworld and back; Durga and her victory over demons, and consecration of Indian kings; Aphrodite and her birth from the Grecian seas, and incessant amorous affairs. How can these figures enrich our notions of “the feminine”?
The Call: Encounter the Formidable Feminine. Embark on this Intercultural Odyssey.
This Power of Myth adventure takes place on Monday evening, at UofT, near St. George Subway STN. It is facilitated by mythologist and storyteller Raj Balkaran, Ph.D. The cost is $39 + HST.
