Pulitzer and Tony Winning Drama Long Day’s Journey Into Night

Widely considered to be American playwright Eugene O’Neill’s masterpiece, this four-act drama concerns the Tyrone family’s affairs on a fateful day in 1912. The play contains semi-autobiographical abstractions of O’Niell and his family, covering the consequences of addiction and the family’s struggle to maintain their love for each other as they battle individual and collective demons. O’Neill was posthumously awarded both the Tony Award for Best Play as well as a Pulizer Prize for Drama in 1957. In 1962, Sidney Lumet directed the film version starring Katharine Hepburn and Dean Stockwell. Learn more
