Atwater Village Theatre presents the world premiere of Matthew McCray’s Eternal Thou. This existential science-fiction drama fuses performance and media to explore the relationship between the gadgetry of the Internet and humans. It’s a fast-paced, ironic work that takes place in a metaphysical space between the real world and the virtual world, and transports audiences from the invention of the rotary telephone to the technology and data-mining capabilities of tomorrow. The play’s five central actors alternate between portraying human beings and technological components as they navigate the unwieldy signals of the Internet, trying to reprogram its central code and thereby protect it from outside forces that threaten its survival.
