New West Symphony Pianist closes out its Masterpiece Series with the aptly named concert Grand Finale at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center. Anton Kuerti, one of today’s great Beethoven interpreters, returns to play Beethoven’s revolutionary Fourth Piano Concerto. Beethoven wrote his 32-minute piece during one of the most productive years of his life during Napoleon’s infamous and difficult occupation of Vienna. Guest conductor Andreas Delfs makes his New West Symphony debut, leading a program that also includes Johannes Brahms’ powerful and emotional First Symphony.
