Torontos highly anticipated summer event, the Beaches International Jazz Festival, celebrates its 24th year with a ten-day musical extravaganza from July 20-29, 2012. An exciting line-up of over 100 bands, emerging and established, each introducing audiences to their particular style of jazz, to their cross-cultural influences and to the energizing unpredictability of creating musical expression. Building on the tremendous success of the past couple of years, Beaches Jazz will once again kick off the Festival with Woodbine Park Concerts, Friday July 20 to Sunday July 22 at Woodbine Park (Coxwell Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard East). On Monday July 23, Tuesday July 24 and Wednesday July 25, the TD Music Workshops and Lecture Series will take place at the Mennonite New Life Centre (1774 Queen Street East) and Alyona Dance Studio (2215 Queen Street East). Crowd favourite Beaches Jazz StreetFest returns this year with over 40 bands performing from Thursday July 26 to Saturday July 28 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm on street corners on Queen Street East between Woodbine and Beech Avenue. On Saturday July 28 and Sunday July 29 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Musical Director Bill King will welcome a diverse line-up of local and international artists to the OLG Main Stage at Kew Gardens (Queen Street East and Lee Avenue).
