War Horse, called “theatrical magic” by The New York Times, puts actors on stage alongside spectacular, lifelike horse puppets to tell the epic story of Joey, a horse that’s sold into the cavalry in World War I, and young Albert, who goes on a treacherous journey to rescue the beloved horse from enemy lines. This original National Theatre of Great Britain production, which packed houses in London and New York, comes to the Ahmanson on its nationwide tour. It features stirring music, a remarkable tale and astonishing puppetry by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, bringing to life breathing, galloping, charging horses strong enough for men to ride.
