The Huntington Library (San Marino, CA)
Southwest Chamber Music presents a summertime festival on the gorgeous grounds of The Huntington Library. This year the ensemble celebrates the legacy of Julia Child in what would have been her 100th year. This government worker-turned-chef demystified French cooking for the American audience and became one our country’s most beloved culinary figures, paving the way for today’s superstar TV chefs. Julia Child came into her own when she went to live in France, so this summer program will celebrate all things francais. The music transports the audience to la belle époque, France’s golden age, where optimism reigned, the arts flourished and new discoveries were made every day. Dine under the stars with your own Julia-inspired picnic and rejuvenate with a summer evening’s getaway.
