Sublime with Rome headlines an outdoor concert at Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, performing alongside ’90s hip-hop stars Cypress Hill and reggae-rockers Pepper. Long Beach’s Sublime had hits in the ’90s with “What I Got,” “Wrong Way,” “Santeria” and more. A decade after original frontman Brad Nowell’s tragic death, the band’s surviving members returned alongside new frontman Rome Ramirez. They released their first album Yours Truly in 2011, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard album charts. Los Angeles’ Cypress Hill became the first Latino hip-hop group to record a platinum album, selling almost 20 million records during a career that included hits like “Insane in the Brain” and “How I Could Just Kill a Man.” Hailing from Hawaii, Pepper is now based in San Diego. They count Sublime as a major influence on their sound, and headlined 2011’s Warped Tour.
