Asylum Lab Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
INTERNment is a new play that plunges headlong into the chaotic, hilarious, and riveting world of primetime television casting, revealing the lengths to which people will go to pursue their dreams. It’s training day in the mailroom at DRW Casting, and it’s going to be an especially unpredictable and memorable one. Up-and-coming casting director Jack Dempsey and two of his interns–Brooklyn-born Riddick and RADA-trained Charles, from London lead the audience through the day as experienced from their very different viewpoints. To make his casting office truly authentic, writer/performer Joe Mahon spent a year and a half as an intern at one of the busiest primetime television casting offices in Los Angeles. The show is laced with humor throughout, but no punches are pulled and the play goes all out to take an uncompromising look at ambition where it leads in the entertainment industry.
