"Corpus Christi" Documentary Screening and Live Performance

Corpus Christi, a passion play by four-time Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Master Class, Ragtime), depicts Jesus and the apostles as gay men living in 1950s Texas, and ignited a firestorm of controversy upon its release in 1998. Celebrate the release of the new documentary Corpus Christi: Playing with Redemption with two nights of events centered around the controversial play. On August 24, catch a sneak-preview screening of the documentary, in which the ongoing debate between the LGBT community and religious groups is highlighted via a five-year journey of “the gay Jesus play.” On August 25, there will be a performance of the critically-acclaimed play itself, presented by 108 Productions and hosted by Metropolitan Community Church Los Angeles. Both events feature a panel discussion with special guests, a post-show reception and a silent auction.
