Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)

See My Fair Lady the way it was meant to be seen — in a beautiful 70-millimeter print at Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre, the site of the film’s 1964 premiere. Rex Harrison stars as Professor Henry Higgins in director George Cukor’s adaptation of Lerner and Loewe’s Broadway hit, alongside Audrey Hepburn as Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle. The winner of 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director and Actor, My Fair Lady features such songs as “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Get Me to the Church on Time” and more. Part of the Egyptian’s 90th anniversary celebration, the screening features a post-film discussion with actor Theodore Bikel, who played dialect expert Zoltan Karpathy in the film. A two-time Tony nominee whose most famous roles include the original Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music and more than 2,000 performances as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Bikel’s other film roles include a debut in The African Queen and an Oscar-nominated performance in 1959’s The Defiant Ones.
