Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Los Angeles, CA)
Singer Placido Domingo and conductor James Conlon open LA Opera’s 2012-13 season with a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s The Two Foscari at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Set in Renaissance-era Venice, The Two Foscari is one of Verdi’s first operas, a gritty and compelling story of secret plots and merciless rivalries based on a play by Lord Byron. Domingo stars as a head of state, desperate to protect his son — and himself — from the ruthless enemies that surround them. This is Domingo’s first performance in the role of Francesco Foscari, Doge of Venice.
