Diavolo Dance Theater’s Skateboarding-Inspired Transit Space
The Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center (Santa Monica, CA)
Fourteen athletically impressive performers leap, fly and spin with power, elegance and a thrill of danger in Diavolo Dance Theater’s Transit Space. Influenced by the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, this kinetic new work explores themes of loss and community while using skate ramps and half-pipes as set pieces to represent the urban environment in this California premiere at the Broad Stage. Led by Artistic Director Jacques Heim, Diavolo’s an internationally renowned modern dance company of dancers, gymnasts, acrobats and athletes.
